Gensler, the world’s leading design and architecture firm, today announced the appointment of Quang Tri Mai as Country Representative for Vietnam, reinforcing the firm’s long-term commitment to one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic and fast-growing markets.
Vietnam is entering a new phase of development, shifting from standalone projects to integrated, mixed-use districts that combine workplace and lifestyle. Demand is rising for high-performance workplaces, technology campuses, hospitality destinations, and large-scale urban environments that perform at an international level. This transformation is driving the need for more strategic, design-led approaches that connect architecture and city-making, aligning closely with Gensler’s holistic approach to delivering resilient, human-centric projects that perform at both the building and city scale.
“This moment of rapid urbanisation and increasing foreign investment presents an important opportunity to help shape Vietnam in a more integrated and forward-looking way, making sure that the places we design are connected, resilient, healthy, and inspiring,” said Quang Tri Mai. “I look forward to partnering with clients and communities to deliver projects that are both commercially effective and meaningful to the local culture and people they serve.”
A Vietnamese architect with over two decades of experience delivering landmark projects and large-scale urban masterplans, Quang Tri has played a defining role in shaping the country’s built environment. Having successfully established and scaled international design practices in Vietnam, he has contributed to iconic developments such as Landmark 81, South-east Asia’s tallest tower, as well as large-scale urban masterplans like the Can Gio coastal development, Vietnam’s largest reclamation project. His experience leading complex projects from concept through to delivery positions him to support clients in realising high-impact developments that balance global standards with local context.
“Vietnam represents a key growth market for Gensler in Southeast-Asia,” said Angela Spathonis, Managing Director of Gensler Singapore. “Our clients are seeking partners who can bridge global expertise with deep local insight, and Tri brings a rare combination of both. His leadership will strengthen our ability to deliver high-impact, community-centric projects and position Gensler as a trusted partner shaping Vietnam’s next chapter of growth.”
Building on its growing presence in Vietnam, Gensler is currently delivering a range of projects across multiple sectors, including the Viettel Group Headquarters, a next-generation workplace for one of Southeast Asia’s largest telecommunications companies; Hilton Saigon, a premium hospitality destination in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City; Vingroup’s Blue Wave Theatre at Vinhomes Green Paradise, set to be Southeast Asia’s largest theatre complex; and UOB Plaza Ho Chi Minh City, a landmark commercial development by one of Southeast Asia’s largest banks.
With this appointment, Gensler continues to deepen its presence in Vietnam, strengthening partnerships with local and international clients and positioning the firm to support the country’s next wave of large-scale, design-led development across workplace, mixed-use, hospitality, and urban sectors.
