The inauguration ceremonies for these projects were simultaneously held online this morning, December 24. Particularly, My Thuan-Can Tho Expressway and My Thuan 2 Bridge will be opened to traffic tomorrow.

The VND5-trillion My Thuan 2 Bridge over the Tien River links the Mekong Delta provinces of Tien Giang and Vinh Long. Work on the project began in February 2020.

Situated 350 meters upstream of the existing My Thuan 1 Bridge, the new bridge has a total length of 6.61 kilometers and serves as the starting point for the Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway project and the end point connecting the My Thuan-Can Tho Expressway.

My Thuan-Can Tho Expressway has around 23 kilometers in length and allows a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour. With a total investment of over VND4.8 trillion, the expressway passes through Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces and took three years to build.

My Thuan 2 Bridge and My Thuan-Can Tho Expressway are part of the big-ticket Eastern North-South Expressway project. These projects aim to alleviate congestion, reduce traffic accidents, and shorten the travel time from HCMC to Can Tho to just over two hours.

Tuyen Quang-Phu Tho Expressway connects to the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway, linking the two provinces of Tuyen Quang and Phu Tho in the northern region as part of the Western North-South Expressway.

With a total investment of VND3.7 trillion, the expressway has four lanes and allows a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

The expansion project of Dien Bien Airport includes the construction of a runway, taxiway, apron, and the expansion of passenger terminal capacity from 300,000 to 500,000 passengers per year.

The project has a total cost of VND1,470 billion, funded by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam and the provincial budget of Dien Bien. It aims to attract both domestic and foreign investments for Dien Bien Province and the neighboring provinces in the northwest region.
