Hội thảo quốc tế "Môi trường xây dựng bền vững cho hiện tại và tương lai"

Phát triển một môi trường xây dựng bền vững là một cách tiếp cận hiệu quả đáp ứng nhu cầu phát triển trên cả ba lĩnh vực quan trọng về môi trường, kinh tế và xã hội. Điều này cũng là mục tiêu thiên niên kỷ của Liên hợp quốc nhằm hướng tới một cuộc sống tốt đẹp hơn cho con người.  

Trong năm 2010, một dự án quốc tế với thời gian 3 năm đã được thành lập và được tài trợ của Ban Phát triển Quốc tế, Chính phủ Anh nhằm phát triển và chuyển giao các kiến thức mới nhất về xây dựng bền vững giữa hai trong số các trường đại học hàng đầu của Vương quốc Anh là Đại học LoughboroughĐại học Liverpool (từ tháng 1 năm 2012 là Đại học Queen's University Belfast) với Trường Đại học Xây dựng. Dự án cũng hướng tới mối quan hệ hợp tác lâu dài trong giáo dục và đào tạo giữa ba trường đại học này. 

Hội thảo quốc tế "Môi trường xây dựng bền vững cho hiện tại và tương lai" được coi là một kết quả quan trọng của dự án. Đây là hội thảo được đồng tổ chức bởi cả bốn Trường đại học để quảng bá các mục tiêu của dự án và cũng để thu thập các ý kiến từ các nhà nghiên cứu trong tất cả các lĩnh vực liên quan đến bền vững xây dựng môi trường. Hội nghị sẽ được tổ chức tại Trường Đại học Xây dựng, nơi có khoảng trên 30.000 sinh viên đã được đào tạo ở nhiều lĩnh vực xây dựng khác nhau.

  12. Vai trò của giáo dục và các trường đại học trong phát triển bền vững
