The French Embassy in Vietnam and French Institutes in Hue launched a project, “Sharing and Preserving Vietnam’s heritages”, in localities such as Ninh Binh, Quang Nam, HCMC and Thua Thien-Hue.

The project consists of three groups of activities comprising professional training for those working in conservation areas in Vietnam, educational programs provided by experts from French museums and universities and experience exchange visits to France.

To run the project, the French will provide three professional training courses to Thua Thien-Hue’s Museum staff on public reception, content expression and communications, and sustainable development and collection management and conservation.

Online professional training courses conducted in mid-2023 will be publicly provided to all museum officers of the province. At the same time, officers in Hue will undertake a one-week tour to France to exchange knowledge and experience with French museums.

Besides, French experts will help Vietnam’s universities develop educational programs on museum business to have a contingent of lecturers in the same field and create opportunities for Vietnamese youth to further understand the new business line of museums.

French experts will also help design pilot projects in heritage conservation in three regions of Vietnam, such as upgrading the Guest Center of Cuc Phuong National Park in Ninh Binh, supporting the Communications and Environmental Education Center of Cu Lao Cham in Quang Nam and designing “story-telling boxes” for HCMC’s museums.

The project, with an estimated fund of over VND14 billion from the French Government, will be implemented from 2022 to 2024 and expects to receive additional capital from French partners in the future.
